I’m an HR trend setter and futurist, specializing in leading HR departments and organizations through dynamic change. I am proud to be recognized as a top business leader in Northern California and have enjoyed the opportunity to be a HR keynote speaker for several HR associations. I was a founding member of the EMBA program and adjunct professor at Sonoma State University. With over 25 years of HR Management experience, I have held executive level HR positions in mid-size, large, and multi-state corporations as well as start-ups.

My approach to HR combines a keen insight into company culture, strategy, operations and best practices to help clients better understand their own needs. I have a collaborative style that promotes open discussion and focus on solutions that advance the client's long term goals.

I am an avid adventure sports enthusiast. My favorite pastimes are trail running, road biking, and mountain biking.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from CSU, Sacramento and a Master's Degree in Organizational Dynamics from University of Pennsylvania. Part of our vision at HR Matrix is to be involved in the community - to be community centric. I have a passion for economic development and helping companies start up and thrive. I was a member of the Economic Development Committee at the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce (5 years), I was a founding member and co-chair of the Sonoma Mountain Business cluster business incubator (3 years), I have been a member of SHRM, PASCO and NCHRA.

Gary Hochman has specialized in the development of organizations for over 25 years. As a principal of The HR Matrix, Gary works in close partnership with his clients, designing highly interactive processes to support desired outcomes while building accountability and commitment throughout the workplace. He enhances organizational effectiveness by integrating strategy, work systems design, as well as team and individual performance.

Prior to co-founding The HR Matrix, Gary was the vice president of HR at OCLI / JDS Uniphase and senior organization development consultant at Hewlett-Packard. He holds a B.A. in sociology and a M.A. degree - with a focus in organization development and training - from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management.

Throughout his career, Gary has led countless projects helping executives and managers rapidly achieve results in a wide variety of demanding situations. With an extensive background in organization development and human resources, Gary brings unique expertise to a variety of challenges facing businesses, including business process improvement, organization design, enhancing team effectiveness, meeting design and facilitation, and the creation and implementation of strategic solutions.

In addition to his commitments to his family and the local non-profit community, Gary served on the faculty of the Organization Department Program at Sonoma State University for six years and University of San Francisco for four years. For inspiration and fun, Gary enjoys listening to and playing music, bicycling, travel, and scuba diving.

As a senior level HR professional with 25+ years experience in corporate HR and small business management, I bring a robust knowledge of compliance, processes and best practices to my consulting practice.

Lindsey Brown, Human Resources Consultant
I am an enthusiastic HR practitioner and leader dedicated to supporting and empowering my clients, their businesses, and their most important internal stakeholders -their employees. As a seasoned HR generalist with over a decade of in-house and consulting experience, I enjoy partnering and strategizing with my clients to identify areas of opportunity within their business and create policies and programs customized to meet their goals and engage their teams.
