With over 15 years of Human Resource Management experience, Brenda is an expert at leading companies through dynamic organizational change. She is recognized as one of the top business leaders, innovators and visionaries in the North Bay. Brenda has been awarded the North Bay Business Journal's Women in Business "Entrepreneur" award and also their Forty under 40 award. Brenda has made numerous media appearances to speak on various HR topics.
In addition to leading The HR Matrix, Brenda is a faculty member/professor at Sonoma State University Executive MBA (EMBA) program. With a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, a Master's Degree in Organizational Dynamics from University of Pennsylvania, Brenda is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Brenda has held senior HR positions at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, VFDA-Management Service Organization (a pre-IPO, multi-state, start-up), Miltenyi Biotec and Sutter Health.
Brenda's approach to consulting combines a keen insight into company culture, strategy and best practices with the ability to help clients better understand their own needs. Her deeply collaborative style opens up discussion, while her expert knowledge ensures that solutions advance the client's long term goals.
When she's not working, Brenda is an avid adventure sports enthusiast. She enjoys training to compete in triathlons and other adventure-related events. Her favorite pastimes are trail running, road biking, and mountain biking.
Gary Hochman, Co-Founder

Gary Hochman has specialized in the development of organizations for over 25 years. As a principal of The HR Matrix, Gary works in close partnership with his clients, designing highly interactive processes to support desired outcomes while building accountability and commitment throughout the workplace. He enhances organizational effectiveness by integrating strategy, work systems design, as well as team and individual performance.
Prior to co-founding The HR Matrix, Gary was the vice president of HR at OCLI / JDS Uniphase and senior organization development consultant at Hewlett-Packard. He holds a B.A. in sociology and a M.A. degree - with a focus in organization development and training - from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management.
Throughout his career, Gary has led countless projects helping executives and managers rapidly achieve results in a wide variety of demanding situations. With an extensive background in organization development and human resources, Gary brings unique expertise to a variety of challenges facing businesses, including business process improvement, organization design, enhancing team effectiveness, meeting design and facilitation, and the creation and implementation of strategic solutions.
In addition to his commitments to his family and the local non-profit community, Gary served on the faculty of the Organization Department Program at Sonoma State University for six years and University of San Francisco for four years. For inspiration and fun, Gary enjoys listening to and playing music, bicycling, travel, and scuba diving.
Talia Eisen, M.A., Senior OD Consultant
Talia is a senior level organization development consultant and executive coach who specializes in moving teams through complex change, growth and conflict. A skilled collaborator and facilitator, Talia works with clients to improve communications practices, develop strategy, and foster alignment. Talia partners with business leaders and teams alike to develop custom solutions and provide successful implementations for lasting results. She has a passion for cultivating leadership skills from the executive level to the front line.
Talia earned her Master s degree in OD and Psychology from Sonoma State University and also holds an Executive Management Certificate from USC Marshall School of Business. She has experience in a wide range of industries including healthcare, non-profit, technology, education, banking and broadcasting. A published author on the subject of communication, Talia has also presented her organizational development research at the OD Network National Conference. In her spare time, Talia enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her children.
Jennifer Scott, SPHR, Senior HR Consultant
Jennifer is a senior level Human Resources consultant with over 20 years corporate and small business HR experience. With a broad background in small business management, analysis and accounting, she has a robust knowledge of systems, processes and best practices that informs her work in human resources.
Jennifer specializes in HR and payroll compliance, business processes analysis and technology, recruitment, and program /policy development. Her ability to streamline and align systems and processes enables clients to become more efficient and effective. She provides in depth analysis of data and practices to assist clients in making decisions or identifying improvements. She has assisted many clients with system configurations and upgrades, including documentation and training. Customized program design projects for clients includes competency-based screening and selection, strategic communication, and shared services models.
Lindsey Brown, Human Resources Consultant
Whether providing onsite HR support, sourcing new talent or devising strategic improvements, Lindsey's extensive background in human resources management, recruitment, and employee relations make her an excellent partner for clients needing human resources services.
Her passion for designing and implementing best practice policies and processes supports and empowers client productivity, compliance and morale. Tech/system savvy and innovative, Lindsey helps clients benefit from cutting edge HR solutions customized to their individual size, culture and industry. Lindsey earned her Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She has worked as a generalist in corporate HR as well as run her own HR consulting business. Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and going on outdoor adventures.
Taya Levine, Senior OD Consultant
Taya has over 25 years of experience as a strategic thinking partner, coach, and designer/facilitator of organizational change and improvement initiatives. Taya's clients in both the public and private sector benefit from her powerful and sensitive skills in areas such as executive coaching, training, and organization development. She excels at designing processes for groups ranging from a handful to hundreds of participants. Through her inclusive engagement style and awareness of self/other she helps clients hone in on the underlying dynamics of situations with both precision and openness.
Taya has helped executives, managers, and technical/service professionals to develop resilience, organizational savvy and change management competencies. She has worked in more than 90 countries and is fluent in both American Sign Language and French.
